A houseman works mostly of the time on one shift and carries out general duties in a hotel. He assist housekeeping staff with laundry and garbage removal and is responsible for stocking storerooms with necessary items like linen, towels, soaps, tissues and toilet paper. A houseman stocks guest rooms with furnishings such as extra beds and any other supplies a guest may need or request. A person applying for this job must be able to move around quite a bit, be able to lift things and exhibit a professional attitude toward his work and the hotel's management team. Good knowledge of English is essential here, because the communication between him and the supervisors is often carried on by the phone. A houseman's duties are a combination of small jobs that are performed as needed. His duties are supervised by housekeeping department.
